Amazon EC2 Container Service (Amazon ECS) is an AWS service that makes it easy to run and manage Docker-enabled applications across a cluster of Amazon EC2 instances. AWS Lambda is a compute service that runs your code in response to events and automatically manages the compute resources for you, making it easy to build applications that respond quickly to new information. This webinar will show you how to run batch jobs using Amazon ECS and AWS Lambda. You will learn how to use AWS Lambda to start Amazon ECS tasks and how you can turn your Amazon ECS cluster into a dynamic fleet of container workers that react to any event supported by AWS Lambda. We will illustrate this pattern by using containers running atop Amazon ECS to generate high quality, ray-traced images out of input files written in a popular open-source raytracing language called POV-Ray.
• Extend the capabilities of Amazon ECS to allow event-driven execution of Amazon ECS tasks
• Use AWS Lambda to start new Amazon ECS tasks for processing events, running long batch jobs triggered by new data in S3, or any event-driven mechanism that you want to implement as a Docker container
